"He is the faithful witness..."
Revelation 1:5
"He was His Father's witness -- He did nothing on His own initiative; He did what He saw His Father doing;"
John 5:19, 20; 8:28
What is a witness? A witness is one who "sees" personally. To witness is primarily to see, (not to tell) and in the seeing, to know.
"You are My witness, declared the Lord,
And My servant whom I have chosen,
In order that you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He."
Isaiah 43:10
But how do we know what God is doing so we don't act on our own initiative in His name and bear false witness?
We acknowledge the following:
How does God reveal Himself? (Have you ever been amazed at the depth and breadth of the spiritual wisdom and knowledge of Paul?) How did Paul know?
"The gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ."
Galatians 1:11, 12
