God's House, an Introduction

Handbook 4: Article 15 - Part 3: An Appointed Time, an Appointed Work: Restoring God's House!

"...declare to the house to the house of Israel... and let them 'measure' the perfection... make known to them the design of the house, its structure, its exits, its entrances, all its forms, all its statutes, all its laws. And write it in their sight, so that they may observe its whole form, and all its statutes, and do them. This is the law for the house: its entire border on the top of the mountain shall be most holy..."

Ezekiel 43:10-12

"Take to your heart all the words that I command you this day... For it is not an idle word for you, indeed it is your life..."

Deuteronomy 32:46, 47

An Early Glimpse of God's House

"Then Jacob departed from Beersheba and went toward Haran. And He came to a certain place (Lit. lighted on the place) and spent the night there, because the sun had set; and he took one of the stones of the place and put it at his head place, and lay down in that place. And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the Lord stood above it (or beside him) and said, 'I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants... And behold, I am with you, and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.' Then Jacob awoke... and said, 'Surely the Lord was in this place, and I did not know it.' And he was afraid and said, 'How awesome is the place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.'"

Genesis 28:10-13, 15-17

Stephen speaks of God's house:

"Our fathers had the tabernacle of testimony in the wilderness, just as He who spoke to Moses directed him to make it according to the pattern which he had seen...

However the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says;

'Heaven is My throne, and earth is the footstool of My feet;
What kind of house will you build for Me?
Or what place is there for My resting place;
Was it not My hand which made all these things?'"

Acts 7:44, 48-50

God speaks of His house, His dwelling place:

"But he who takes refuge in Me shall inherit the land,
And possess My holy mountain.

And it shall be said,
'Build up, build up, prepare the way,
Remove every obstacle out of the way of My people.'
For thus says the high and exalted One
Who dwells in eternity, whose name is Holy,
'I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.'"

Isaiah 57:13-15

"Heaven is My throne and earth is My footstool...
But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word."

Isaiah 66:1, 2
