The Tabernacle in the Wilderness

Handbook 4: Article 17 - Part 3: An Appointed Time, an Appointed Work: Restoring God's House!

"Then Moses went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. And the glory of the Lord dwelt on Mt. Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days, and on the seventh day He called to Moses from the midst of the cloud... And Moses entered the midst of the cloud and he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights."

Exodus 24:15-18

"Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 'Tell the sons of Israel to take a contribution for Me from every man whose heart moves him you shall raise My contribution... And let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, so you shall construct it.'"

"Now it came about in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was erected... Thus Moses finished the work. Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

And throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out; but if the cloud was not take up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up. So throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was a fire by night, in the sight of the house of Israel"

Exodus 40:17, 33-38

God states "His Divine Purpose" for bringing the sons of Israel out of captivity in Egypt.

"I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister to Me. And I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the Lord their God."

Exodus 29:44-46

"Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My special treasure among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel."

Exodus 19:5, 6

The Result

"So He brought them to His holy border (or territory),
To this mountain which His right hand had gained.
He also drove out the nations before them,
And He apportioned for them an inheritance by measurement,
And made the tribes of Israel dwell in tents.
Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God,
And did not keep His testimonies...
For they provoked Him with their high places,
And aroused His jealousy with their graven images...
So that He abandoned the dwelling place at Shiloh,
The tent which He had pitched among men..."

Psalm 78:54-60
