Christian's Handbook 5

Handbook 5 encapsulates the "summing up" of all things in Christ Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.

Christ Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the Sheep

Handbook 5: Article 25 - The Journey to Perfection

"Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for every and ever. Amen."

Hebrews 13:20, 21

How it works:

"I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep."

John 10:14, 15

"Like a shepherd He will tend His flock; In His arm He will gather the lambs, And carry them in His bosom..."

Isaiah 40:11

"I will gather them and bring them together like sheep in a fold; like a flock in the midst of a pasture..."

Micah 2:12, 13

"I know My own, and My own know Me!"

"...he who enters by the door (into the sheepfold) is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. "When he puts forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. And a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."

John 10:2-5

"...Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

John 10:7-9

"Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able, once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord open to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.'"

Luke 13:24, 25

And I respond:

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
...He guides me in paths (Lit. tracks) of righteousness
For His name's sake."

Palm 23:1, 3

And again the words of this song resound in my heart:

"Where He leads me I will follow... I'll go with Him all the way."

And may this promise soon be ours!

"Therefore the Lord longs (Lit. waits) to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long (Lit. wait) for Him.

...He, your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. And your ears will hear a word behind you, 'This is the way, walk in it,' whenever you turn to the right or to the left."

Isaiah 30: 18, 20, 21
