A Review

Paul speaks about not having a righteousness of his own:

"...but which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith..."

Philippians 3:9

And Isaiah writes:

"For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like filthy garments..."

Isaiah 64:6

Paul again:

"But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus who became to us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification, and redemption..."

1 Corinthians 1:30

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

2 Corinthians 5:21

Recognizing the Tracks of Righteousness

"Thou doest meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness,
Who remembers Thee in Thy ways."

Isaiah 64:5

"For in it (the gospel) a righteousness which God ascribes is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith. As it is written, 'The righteous man shall live by faith.'"

Romans 1:17

"And this is the message we have heard from Him... If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:5, 8, 9

"It is a trustworthy statement... that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all."

How It Works

"Those whom I love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten -- I discipline and instruct them. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent -- changing your mind and attitude."

Revelation 3:19 Amplified Bible

Sanctification: An Obsolete Word?
Handbook 3:Article 23

"All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful... yet to those who are trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness."

Hebrews 12:11

"I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,
For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,
My soul will exult in my God;
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up.
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise
To spring up before all the nations."

Isaiah 61:10, 11
