Christian's Handbook 5

Handbook 5 encapsulates the "summing up" of all things in Christ Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.

Offering to God an Acceptable Service: the Greater Works!

Handbook 5: Article 33 - The Journey to Perfection

"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus the Apostle and High Priest of our confession. He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses was also in all His house... Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house, whose house we are..."

Hebrews 3:1, 2, 5, 6

Christ was faithful as a Son over His house:

"I glorified Thee on earth, having accomplished the work which Thou hast given Me to do."

John 17:4

May we, too, be found faithful over His house!

A Review:

"And coming to Him as to a living stone... you also as living stones allow yourself to be built up (or build yourselves up) as a spiritual house to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

1 Peter 2:4, 5

"Gather My godly ones to Me,
Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice."

Psalm 50:5

"For we are God's handiwork recreated in Christ Jesus that we may do those good works which God planned beforehand for us..."

Ephesians 2:10

The Good Works:

"Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go to the Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My Name, I will do it."

John 14:12-14

May His testimony about His work on earth also be true of me:

"I glorified Thee on earth, having accomplished the work which Thou hast given (Me) to do."

John 17:4

The Greater Works: A Definition!

Asking according to His will:

"And this is the confidence which we have toward Him that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked of Him."

1 John 5:14, 15

"It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer'..."

Matthew 21:13

A Review:

Prayer: A Misunderstood and Misused Privilege!
Handbook 3: Article 18

An Appointment to Pray:

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you."

John 15:16

Again:

"Who then is the faithful and sensible servant whom his master puts in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master finds so doing when he comes. I solemnly declare he will put him in charge of all his possessions."

Matthew 24:45-47
